Students will soon be taking a mandated statewide standardized test online instead of using pen and paper.
Governor Josh Shapiro announced that the Keystone Exams and PSSAs will move fully online starting in 2026.
“We know that students today do a ton of interactive learning on their computers, and online assessments do a better job of matching how they learn,” Shapiro said.
Shapiro also said the testing will allow students to use methods they are already familiar with and developing a benchmark assessment tool for schools to help educators better understand whether students are on track to succeed on end-of-year exams.
