Seven people have expressed a desire to be appointed to a spot on Butler City Council.
Current City Council member Rick Schontz is stepping down from the final 16 months of his term later this month after deciding to move outside the Butler City limits.
Those who have sent letters expressing interest in the position include William Criley, Greg Sasse, Matthew McCune, Richard Zitalone, Kenny Bonus, Elvira Grenci, and former city treasurer Jeff Smith.
Questionnaires will be sent out to prospective applicants in the near future then they will be scored once they have been returned. Some candidates will be interviewed before the council votes on the appointment in August.
