The city of Butler anticipates settling a lawsuit filed by a former Butler City Police Chief nearly three years ago.
As part of Thursday’s Agenda-setting meeting, council referenced a motion to approve a General Release and Settlement Agreement with former Chief Ron Brown. This motion is expected to be voted on at Council’s regular meeting later this month.
In April of 2019, Brown sued the city demanding payment for lost compensation time, pensions and personal days totaling just over $30,000. Brown worked for the city for 28 years before retiring in 2018.
Although no details were provided about the settlement Thursday night, city solicitor Tom Breth has previously called the assertions described in the lawsuit as “categorically false”.
A separate lawsuit filed by former Deputy Chief Dave Adam concerning a similar complaint is still pending ongoing litigation.
