The sentence of a man convicted of shooting a Slippery Rock University football player in 2013 has been upheld.
PA Superior Court upheld the five to fifteen year manslaughter sentence given to 25-year-old Isiah Smith of Lincoln-Lemington.
Smith had been partying with friends in Pittsburgh when he got into an argument outside The Original Hotdog Shop in Oakland and shot 24-year-old Zachary Sheridan of Brookline.
Smith had appealed his conviction as he maintained that the original judge abused his discretion in the sentence of 5 to 15 years for involuntary manslaughter. The maximum sentence could have been 10 to 20 years in prison.
