The Seneca Valley hockey team won the Class 3A Penguins Cup championship last night with a 4-2 victory over Peters Township. Tyler Draper and Michael Spokane scored goals 13 seconds apart in the secod period, as the Raiders defeated the defending state champions for the title. Goaltender Logan Johnson stopped 26 shots in the victory.
Armstrong won the 2A championship with a 5-0 victory over Quaker Valley. It was the first win for the school since the Kittanning-Ford City merger in 2013.
The PIAA basketball semi-final games for the Pine-Richland boys as well as Mars and Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic girls were postponed last night due to weather. They are rescheduled for Thursday.
