Students, staff, and administration at Seneca Valley’s Ryan Gloyer Middle School will remember their facility’s namesake fallen soldier at an upcoming presentation.
A couple of ceremonies are planned for Friday at 8:15 and 10:15 a.m. in the Intermediate High School Auditorium to present information to students about Sgt. 1st Class Ryan Gloyer, a 2000 Seneca Valley graduate, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2016 at the age of 34.
This event will include Ryan’s father and members of the U.S. Army Green Beret Special Forces. The second annual Ryan Gloyer Memorial Run will take place Sunday at 9 a.m. on the Seneca Valley secondary campus and is open to the public.
Ryan Gloyer Middle School, home to Seneca Valley seventh and eighth graders, was renamed in 2018 due to efforts by several students who were moved and inspired by Ryan’s story.
