Two local schools have been recognized for their efforts to raise money to help with the fight against cancer.
Evans City Elementary and Middle Schools in the Seneca Valley School District have been named winners of the 2016 Pennsylvania Principals Association Bob D. Schiller Memorial Cancer Research and Support Award.
The schools began their STOMP Out Cancer Campaign in 2007 and participants have raised more than $120,000 to benefit the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute for cancer research.
As part of the award, Evans City will receive a $2,000 check to put toward future STOMP events.
