Participants in an event this Friday at a local school hope to raise funds to combat different kinds of cancer.
Grades K through six of the Evans City Schools in the Seneca Valley School District are hosting the ninth annual STOMP Out Cancer Walk from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the school.
Over 1,000 students and staff will walk around the building at different times during the day. Some will carry signs and banners or wear messages on their clothes to raise money and awareness for the fight against cancer.
Participants in this event have raised over $122,000 over the past eight years. All proceeds go to the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute for cancer research.
