A local lawmaker is helping to get the message out to young people about drug prevention through an annual resolution.
The State Senate has recognized today as Drugs Kill Dreams Day following a resolution by Republican Senator Joe Pittman.
The Drugs Kill Dreams Program was launched in 1994 with the objective to stop drug and alcohol addiction and abuse before it begins while encouraging adolescents to live healthy, safe, and responsible lives.
Pittman’s predecessor in the 41st District, Senator Don White, began the tradition of sponsoring a Drugs Kill Dreams Day resolution and Pittman believes that research confirms that a proactive approach to substance abuse works with kids in middle and high schools.
