State Senator Doug Mastriano made it official over the weekend—he’s running for governor.
The Franklin County native announced his plans to seek the Republican nomination this year.
Mastriano was elected to the senate in 2019 and soon became a vocal opponent of Governor Wolf’s coronavirus mitigation efforts. He also played a role in the “Stop the Steal” effort to overturn Pennsylvania’s election results.
Mastriano joins a large, and still evolving field, in the Republican primary. More than a dozen candidates are currently seeking the GOP nomination.
