Legislation put forward by a local lawmaker that would streamline and improve the process of resolving tax disputes with the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue will be signed into law.
Senate Bill 1051, introduced by Republican State Senator Scott Hutchinson was recently approved by the Pennsylvania Senate.
The new law will allow the Board of Finance and Review to accept late filed applications in certain circumstances to create an alternative settlement process involving mediation rather than a lengthy court appeal.
This action is supported by numerous organizations such as the PA Chamber of Business and Industry, the PA Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the PA Society of Enrolled Agents as well as PA Treasurer Stacy Garrity.
