Legislation put forward by a local lawmaker that would streamline and improve the process of resolving tax disputes with the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue is advancing.
Senate Bill 1051, introduced by Republican State Senator Scott Hutchinson was approved by the Pennsylvania Senate last week.
The new bill would allow the Board of Finance and Review to accept late filed applications in certain circumstances to create an alternative settlement process rather than a lengthy court appeal. A companion bill, House Bill 1994, is advancing through the State House.
This bill will is supported by numerous organizations such as the PA Chamber of Business and Industry, the PA Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the PA Society of Enrolled Agents as well as PA Treasurer Stacy Garrity.
