Senator Bob Casey is expressing his concern about the lack of inspections at poor performing nursing homes across the nation.
He said one out of five nursing homes that are classified as poor performing are also overdue for an inspection by the Special Focus Facility program.
Casey is pressing the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on how they will make sure these facilities are regularly inspected every six months as required.
The Special Focus Facility program is for nursing homes that “substantially fail” to meet required care standards.
