Senator Bob Casey is pushing for more protections for uses of peer-to-peer payment applications.
Apps like Venmo, the Cash App, and Zelle have become more popular over the last handful of years. Casey says that also has given scammers another avenue to target consumers.
Casey adds that older adults are vulnerable as scammers pose as their banking institution to defraud customers out of money.
Casey and other senators believe there are common-sense protections that could be implemented to help older adults, especially those with low incomes.
