Senator Bob Casey has introduced new legislation to “crack down” on price gouging.
According to data compiled by Senator Casey’s “Greedflation series” from July 2020 through July 2022 inflation rose by 14 percent while profits rose by 74 percent.
In response Casey proposed legislation that would prohibit price gouging at the federal level, target companies that exploited the pandemic to boost profits, provide more funding to the Federal Trade Commission, and more.
Casey is pushing the Government Accountability office to examine the effects of “corporate greed” on American consumers.
