Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey is supporting legislation that he says would make it easier for students to get food during the summer.
Casey says that throughout the COVID pandemic, waiver flexibilities have been crucial to keeping children fed and a number of senators are looking to extend school meal flexibilities until September 2023.
Casey says that giving school districts these options gives them the flexibility they need to serve students during the summer.
In the Moniteau School District alone, the food service department served over 44,000 meals just last summer.
