A local lawmaker’s measure to help hunters across the state has been signed into law by Governor Tom Wolf.
“This amendment to House Bill 263 would allow the use in Pennsylvania of semi-automatic sporting rifles and it would give the Pennsylvania Game Commission the ability to set the parameters for their use.”
State Senator Scott Hutchinson who represents the 21st district which includes parts of Butler County. According to Hutchinson, many hunters use semi-automatic rifles at the firing range but until now, those firearms have been prohibited from being used for hunting.
“Pennsylvania is the only state in the nation that disallows the use of semi-automatic sporting rifles for hunting of any kind.”
The semi-automatic rifles will be allowed for hunting once regulations for their use have been set by the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
