55-year old Sean Knapp, of Oakmont Country Club, won the 63rd United States Senior Amateur Thursday in Minneapolis. It was his first national title and his first year of eligibilty for the tournament. He became the first player to win the tournament without a birdie. Knapp defeated Paul Simson 2 and 1 to claim the title. Knapp has won 35 West Penn Golf Association titles, and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2015. He has been a semi-finalist in the U.S. Mid-Amateur twice.
