The South Butler School District is another step closer to changing their name following a new bill that was signed by Governor Tom Wolf.
The new law allows school boards to change the district name by a two-thirds vote and approval from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Previously, any name change had to go through the state legislature.
Local State Representative Marci Mustello co-sponsored the bill after the South Butler reached out about changing their name to the Knoch School District in order to align it with the high school’s current name.
