A large number of Saxonburg residents became concerned Wednesday afternoon after a rumor began circulating on social media about the possibility of protests.
Eyewitnesses describe around 100 local people circulating around the downtown Saxonburg area expressing concern about the possibility for damage to property and businesses.
Several people mentioned a rumor they heard about through a social media post about buses from Pittsburgh with protesters planning to march down Main Street in Saxonburg.
These rumors have not been confirmed as having any basis in fact and so far, although a small group of local protesters are marching, no buses with protesters from other areas have arrived in Saxonburg.
