The Saxonburg Police Department has hired a second full-term officer.
Police Chief Joe Beachem says Lt. Kevin Stiles officially started full-time work on Jan. 1. He previously worked part-time for the department.
In addition to the chief and the lieutenant, the department has eight part-time officers.
The chief said the second full-time officer was much needed to cover holes in the schedule.
