A Saxonburg native and longtime educator is returning to his hometown tomorrow to discuss a new book.
Dr. Jeffrey Neal is a 1981 Knoch graduate who has been in the education industry for the last 34 years in Florida.
His book is “What A Long Strange It’s Been” was recently published detailing his career—including a fatal shooting of a teacher at his school in 2000.
“It was the last day of school. The young man that killed him was sent home for throwing water balloons by another teacher. What happened was the student wanted to go into a classroom to say goodbye to his girlfriend,” Deal said. “But the other teacher, who’s name was Barry Grunow, wouldn’t let him in.”
“Grunow told the student that he was suspended and that he wasn’t supposed to be in the school. The gun was then taken out and killed him with five minutes left in the school day.”
Neal will be holding a discussion and book signing event tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. at the South Butler Library. His book will be available for purchase.
No registration is necessary.
