The Pittsburgh Pirates lost on the road in 15 innings last night to the Milwaukee Brewers 7-6. The Brewers started out the game early after the first inning with a 4-0 lead but the Pirates battled back to tie the game at 4 in the ninth inning. The Pirates scored 2 runs in the 15th inning to take a 6-4 lead but in the bottom of the inning, the Brewers scored 3 runs. Clay Holmes (1-3, 8.15 ERA) took the loss for the Pirates and Jordan Lyles got the win for the Brewers. Both teams are back in action tonight, 7:10 P.M. first pitch, you can listen to tonight’s games immediately following the Steelers preseason. Tonight starting pitchers are Jameson Taillon (9-9, 3.58 ERA) for the Pirates and Jhoulys Chacin (13-4, 3.58 ERA) for the Brewers.
The Steelers host the Tennessee Titans today for their third preseason game. Kick-off is set for 4 P.M. Pre-game is on WISR 680AM starting at 2 P.M. A few veterans will make their first appearance of the preseason, including quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
The Altoona Curve lost last night 3-1 at home against the Richmond Squirrels. Both teams will play each again today. With the loss by the Curve, they stay just a half game behind Akron as Akron lost last night to Harrisburg. The Curve record is 71-56 with 10 games remaining in the 2018 regular season.
Jamie Lovemark and Brooks Koekpa are tied at 10 under par after the second round of the Northern Trust PGA Tour event in New Jersey. This is the first of four Fed Ex Cup events. The top 100 golfers in this weekend’s tournament will advance to the second event. The third round for the Northern Trust is set for today.
NASCAR Cup Series is off this weekend, they are in Darlington next weekend with two races remaining before the playoffs begin.
In the Little League World Series, today is the International and U.S.A. finals. In the International finals, Japan will face South Korea. The U.S.A. finals feature Peachtree, Georgia will play Honolulu, Hawaii. The international game is set for 12:30 P.M. and the U.S.A. finals are set for 3:30 P.M. Both games can be seen on ABC. The winners of both games will play tomorrow afternoon for the Championship game. The losers of today’s games will play in a consolation game tomorrow before the Championship game.
