The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign is once again underway in Butler County.
This year’s goal is $98,000. Major Valerie Hazeldine said the funds are essential to keeping the Salvation Army’s programs running throughout the entire year.
“We use these funds for everything we do for the rest of the year,” Hazeldine said. “We have to make a lot of money on this to be able to keep going.”
You will find bell ringers outside 10 Butler stores this year. Major Dan Hazeldine said the loss of Friedman’s in the City of Butler and K-Mart in Pullman Plaza will hurt the fundraiser, but he knows local residents will pull together.
“Butler is a very generous town,” Dan Hazeldine said. “We have been very fortunate in the past and have made our goal.”
The Red Kettle Campaign will continue through Dec. 23. Aside from dropping money into a kettle, you can donate online (redkettleseason.org) and through text (text the word KETTLES to 51555).
