The hearing for the sale of the former Oakland Township Elementary School, which used to be part of the Butler School District, is scheduled for later today.
The hearing at the Butler County Courthouse before Court of Common Pleas Judge S. Michael Yeager will begin Friday at 2 p.m.
The Butler Area School Board agreed to sell the former school last month to businessman Robert Oesterling for $200,000. Oesterling owns an electronic cigarette and vaping operation based in Clarion and reportedly plans to use the former school in Butler County as a warehouse. Offers from other potential buyers will be considered by the judge at Friday’s hearing.
The board had previously agreed to sell the property last year to businessman Monty Edgar for $360,000 but that deal fell through when problems were found with the facility’s water supply. The board spent over $10,000 in an effort to diagnose and correct the issues but additional work is needed which will be the responsibility of the new buyer.
