After a tragic death in Cambia County, the police department created a Safe Exchange Zone, now lawmakers are looking to bring that to the state.
A safe exchange zone would be a highly monitored area for people to exchange online sales or transfer of children by parents involved with custody agreements.
This bill would allow for counties and municipalities to establish these zones.
Several years ago, the Cranberry Township Police Department established a Safe Exchange Zone in the parking lot of the Cranberry Municipal Center.
The bill passed the senate with bipartisan support and has been referred to the Tourism and Economic and Recreational Development Committee.
