The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Ottawa Senators 8-5 last night at PPG Paints Arena. Bryan Rust had his first career hat trick, with one of his goals scored on a penalty shot. The victory moved the Pens into a first-place tie with the New York Rangers in the Metropolitan Division.
Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury started his third game in a row, but was pulled after allowing four goals on 16 shots mid-way through the second period. Matt Murray allowed one goal on 18 shots the rest of the game. Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel had three points each and Sidney Crosby netted his NHL-leading 17th goal of the season.
The Pens travel to Florida later this week. They meet the Florida Panthers Thursday and the Tampa Bay Lightning Saturday. Following the road trip, the Pens will have six of their next nine
