The main short-cut linking Evans City and Interstate 79 is back open.
Jackson Township Manager Chris Rearick said Route 528 reopened early Monday. The road was closed over the weekend while crews constructed a four-way intersection connecting Jo Deener Drive and Tomlinson Drive and eliminated a sharp bend in the road.
Rearick said to his knowledge, construction went as planned. He said there was some confusion as drivers came upon the closure but noted there were no major incidents.
Crews are still working on a different section of Route 528 paving and replacing a bridge. Traffic in that section has been reduced to one lane with a temporary stoplight.
