Offense was lacking for the Steelers Sunday as quarterback Ben Roethlisberger tossed five interceptions—the most in his career—in a 30-9 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars at Heinz Field.
Two of Roethlisberger’s interceptions were returned for touchdowns by the Jaguars defense, which also held Le’Veon Bell to only 47 rushing yards on 15 carries. Steelers WR Antonio Brown had 10 receptions for 157 yards.
Meanwhile, Jaguars rookie running back Leonard Fournette provided most of Jacksonville’s offense, rushing for 181 yards and two touchdowns—including a 90 yard TD late in the 4th quarter. The rushing game was really the only source of offense for Jacksonville, as quarterback Blake Bortles completed only eight passes on 14 attempts, for just under 100 yards. The 14 attempts were the fewest in the NFL since 2014.
In contrast, Roethlisberger attempted 55 passes. It was also the second time in Roethlisberger’s career he threw two “pick-sixes.”
The Steelers fall to 3-2 and currently hold a first place tie over the Baltimore Ravens—who defeated the Oakland Raiders in Oakland yesterday. The Jaguars sit alone atop the AFC South with a 3-2 record.
