The Colorado Rockies shutout the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-0 last night in the opening game of a three-game series at PNC Park. The Bucs managed just three hits in the game. Pirates starting pitcher Chris Archer allowed four runs, three earned over five innings. His record fell to 1-4. He now has a 5.55 ERA.
The loss snapped a three-game winning streak, dropping them to 24-21 overall, and 3-1/2 behind the first-place Chicago Cubs. Chicago defeated Philadelphia in the bottom of the ninth inning last night.
The Bucs and Rockies play again tonight at 7:05pm. WISR airtime is 6:40pm. Montana DuRapau will start for the Pirates.
