A group of regional paint store employees is undertaking a project later this week at a local facility for women Veterans in need of shelter.
Members of the Women’s Networking Group at Sherwin Williams plan to spend Wednesday and Thursday painting at Robin’s Home in Butler.
Project coordinator Kiara Oesterling explains how this effort was selected:
“We try to do at least one big project a year. One of the leaders of our group is a female veteran herself and we were talking about different ideas for projects, that was something that really like of stuck with her too to be like, yeah, that’s a really good group to help.”
About 25 women will use about 20 gallons of paint and supplies donated by Sherwin Williams over the course of this two-day project.
“They have five bedrooms that haven’t been touched in a long time that we are going to be painting, ceilings and walls. They are currently occupied so they are trying to move out as much as they can but we’ll be very careful around anything they may still have in the rooms.”
Robin’s Home, which is a non-profit organization that offers supportive housing for women veterans and their children, is located on East Pearl Street in Butler.
