A longtime downtown Butler landmark is in the process of being torn down and traffic in the area could be disrupted.
The demolition of the former Worsley’s building began Saturday and is expected to take for four to six weeks. Motorists should expect some traffic delays as only a single lane of East North Street is open while tear down continues.
The building shares two common walls with other buildings and those will need reinforced. The company doing the demolition will be required to seed and mulch the area when finished.
Butler City Building Code Official John Evans plans to observe the site at least twice a day to make sure precautions are being taken for pedestrian safety.
