The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission will hold several public hearings next month on a proposed rate increase requested by Pennsylvania American Water.
The eight hearings will take place over video conference and telephone beginning Tuesday, August 18th at 1 and 6 p.m. Additional hearings will take place at the same times on Tuesday, August 25th, Wednesday, August 26th and Thursday, August 27th.
PA American Water requested the over $120 million rate hike over two years. The average monthly bill for a residential customer would increase by nearly 12% over the course of that time. The PUC is now investigating this request with a decision expected by January.
Those who would like to testify at this hearing should contact the Pennsylvania Office of Consumer Advocate by the day before the hearing. That toll-free number is 1-800-684-6560. The link for those who would like to just listen is posted to the PUC website.
PA American Water provides service to roughly 2.3 million residents and businesses in 37 counties across the state, including many in Butler County.
