A historic landmark in Saxonburg needs repair and the museum is asking the community for help.
The replica Brooklyn Bridge in Roebling Park has water damage and hasn’t been maintained. Over $3,000 have been raised but that will not be enough.
There has been talk about donations of materials but even with those donations the cost of the project is at $80,000.
According to Brooke Wamsley Vice President of Friends of Saxonburg Museum they don’t want to store away the bridge but instead take it apart and put it in a new location.
“We’re going to move it to an open grass area adjacent to the museum. There is open grass in that area there,” Wamsley said. “We’re going to take it down piece-by-piece, save what we can, and start rebuilding it in that new spot.”
