Congressman Mike Kelly has formally introduced a resolution that would create a task force to investigate the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.
Kelly says the goal of the task force would be to investigate, detail, and explain the shooting.
Speaker Mike Johnson previously said it would be a bipartisan task force, that would have subpoena power. 13 lawmakers are set to be on the task force—seven Republicans and six Democrats.
They are advocating for the task force because it has fewer procedural hurdles than a committee.
Kelly also said that “it’s important we don’t jump to any conclusions as we begin these investigations.”
