A proposed bill by Congressman Mike Kelly looks to give people a tax exemption if they participate in clinical trials.
The bipartisan bill aims to exempt all payments received by participants in clinical trials from being counted towards their gross income.
Kelly says that under the current law, any payments from clinical trials are considered taxable income because they are not listed as reimbursements.
He believes that making this tax-exempt income it “can alleviate a burden and make participation in clinical trials more accessible.”
