A local lawmaker is holding an event for seniors in the region later this week.
State Representative Jaret Gibbons is hosting his 10th annual Senior Fair from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday (10/5) at the Wurtemburg-Perry Fire Hall in Elwood City. Gibbons is a Democrat representing parts of Beaver, Butler, and Lawrence counties.
This free event will feature health screenings as well as information on programs and services benefiting senior citizens. Many vendors and representatives from government agencies will be on hand to answer questions. Events such as these are very important for the senior residents of our community, they need to be aware of what is out there to help them through certain stages as well as seeing if there is anything they can add to what they are already doing. They can also assist families with planning and preparation too so their relatives can get the aid they need. Some senior citizens do not realize that they can apply for and receive senior life insurance at a certain stage in their life. This can help immensely with expenses that they will need to pay out, as well as protecting assets that they may have. Peace of mind is important for the elderly, they want to know that they, as well as their family, are covered at all times.
