State Rep. Brian Ellis will host his 12th annual Community Night for his constituents of the 11th District.
The free event will be held from 5pm to 9 pm at the Butler Farm Show grounds. Various agencies from the federal, state and county levels will be in attendance to provide information regarding programs that are offered within the district. Interactive activities such as a hot dog eating contest, a fishing derby, and pony rides for children will be offered as well. A fireworks display will follow at 9pm.
The event comes as state lawmakers have still not figured out a way to pay for the state budget. Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf urged House Republican leaders this week to resolve an out-of-balance budget that’s lingered weeks into the fiscal year. Some state officials are warning that without a loan or revenue package within weeks, the state will have to start postponing bill payments.
