A local lawmaker’s bill focusing on mental health care is one step closer to becoming law.
The PA House of Representatives unanimously approved House Bill 835 authored by Representative Aaron Bernstine that will update the Mental Health Procedures Act.
Bernstine’s bill would state that anyone in treatment for mental health issues have a right to be free from abuse, neglect and exploitation. Mental health patients are not protected under the current law.
The bill now moves on to the State Senate for discussion and a vote.
