It’s April 15th—which normally means its Tax Day. But, for the third straight year the deadline is being pushed back.
Tax filers now have until April 18th because of a federal holiday that happens tomorrow. Workers in Washington D.C. are off today for Emancipation Day—which commemorates President Abraham Lincoln’s signing a declaration freeing around 3,000 slaves in Washington D.C. on April 16, 1862.
Since the day falls on a Saturday, it’s observed today.
For the past two years, the tax deadline has been pushed back due to the pandemic.
