Daylight saving time ends this weekend.
Remember to set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed Saturday night. At 2 a.m. Sunday, the time will switch from daylight saving time to standard and move back one hour.
Daylight saving time is not observed in all places… including Hawaii, and Arizona.
Daylight saving time will start again March 13th.
Fun Facts
- In the U.S., daylight saving time was first introduced during World War I on March 31, 1918. It was abolished after the war.
- It was reinstituted during World War II on Feb. 9, 1942. Some states and cities had daylight saving time after the war, but it was not uniformally adopted until the Uniform Time Act of 1966. Daylight saving time started in 1967 at 2 a.m. the last Sunday in April and returned to standard time on the last Sunday in October.
- Michigan exempted itself from daylight saving time along with Arizona. Michigan did not begin observing it until 1972.
- Daylight saving time has started on other dates, including a year-round trial in 1974 and 1975. It now starts on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November.
