Registration has now opened for two foot races that are part of the annual Silvester celebration on New Year’s Eve of Harmony’s German heritage, as well as for the New Year’s Day Polar Plunge into the Connoquenessing Creek.
A 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run will once again be held on Dec. 31. All proceeds benefit borough park maintenance and improvements.
Then on New Year’s Day, the Polar Plunge into Connoquenessing Creek will take place at the canoe launch on the western end of Jackson Street. Awards will be presented for best costumes and most money raised for the Harmony Fire District.
Participants for either event can register online at active.com or harmony-pa.us.
Silvester is an afternoon of family activities throughout the town including a ball drop at 6 p.m., which is midnight in Germany.
