Several malls in the region have announced they will be closed on Thanksgiving so employees can spend time with their families before Black Friday.
The Westmoreland Mall and the Monroeville Mall will not be open on Thanksgiving.
The company that owns the Westmoreland Mall says over the years the magic of Black Friday has been diminished by an earlier start to the holiday shopping season but not this year.
Both malls will open at 6 a.m. Friday.
