The Cincinnati Reds jumped on Pittsburgh Pirates starter Gerrit Cole for five earned runs in 4-2/3rds innings last night on their way to a 5-2 victory. Cole is now 0-5 in his career against the Reds. Cole’s record fell to 11-3 and his ERA jumped to 2.13 overall. The Pirate bullpen did not allow a run after Cole exited the game in the fifth inning, but the Pirates went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
37,659 attended the game last night, that featured fireworks after the game. It was the second-biggest attendance at PNC Park for a Wednesday night game.
