The Cincinnati Reds avoided a sweep by the Pittsburgh Pirates with an 11-inning 6-5 win Sunday at PNC Park. The Pirates came from behind in the game three times, but four errors aided the Reds cause. John Jaso and Gregory Polanco homered for the Pirates. Pirate starter Jeff Locke allowed three earned runs on four hits over seven innings. He walked two and struck out six.
The Bucs host the Chicago Cubs beginning tonight. Game time is 7:05pm. Gerrit Cole will start for the Pirates, who are 15-10 overall and trail the Cubs by three games. Chicago is a league-best 17-6.
