After an hour-long rain delay, the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-2 Tuesday. Pirate starting pitcher Jameson Taillon allowed six earned runs over six innings, including a grand slam to Scooter Gennett. Taillon has not won in eight starts since throwing a one-hitter against Cincinnati April 8th. Matt Harvey made his first home start in a Reds uniform after being traded by the New York Mets. He allowed one run over six innings.
The Pirates runs came from solo home runs by rookies Colin Moran and Austin Meadows.
It was their fourth loss in a row. The Pirates lost more ground to the Milwaukee Brewers, who defeated Arizona 1-0. The Bucs trail in the NL Central by three games.
The Bucs and Reds play again tonight at 7:10pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:45pm. Chad Kuhl starts for the Pirates (4-2, 4.53 ERA). Homer Bailey will start for the Reds. He is 1-6, with a 6.11 ERA.
