The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler will have repairs made to the Penn Theater in downtown Butler following damage done by an unknown individual last month.
The authority was informed by Butler City Police that a large pane of glass in a door at the theater was broken back on April 20. The person responsible was not apprehended but a nearby business owner reported loitering, loud noise, and people playing hockey in the area on the same day and around the same time the glass was broken, according to the authority.
A new pane of thicker glass has been made and will be installed soon at a cost of $54.
The authority will also look into the possibility of replacing the glass in the other seven doors at the theater with the same heavier glass to reduce the chances of future breakage. Board members will also look into purchasing a security camera to discourage destruction.
