The American Red Cross is partnering with the City of Butler this weekend to raise awareness of the need for smoke detectors.
About 100 volunteers will be canvassing neighborhoods between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Saturday (5/30) distributing information about how to get a free smoke alarm.
The Home Fire Preparedness National Campaign began last year and will give people the opportunity to fill out a form and get a detector provided by the Red Cross and installed by Butler City Firefighters.
