The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-1 last night in the opening game of their three-game series. The Pirates stranded 11 runners in the game, going 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position. Pirates pitchers also walked seven in the game. Starting pitcher Roansy Contreras allowed all four runs to the Rays over 5-1/3rd innings on six hits. Things fell apart after three scoreless innings.
The Bucs and Rays play again tonight at 6:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:15pm. Mitch Keller starts for the Pirates. He is 3-0 this season.
