Seneca Valley Senior High Student Council will hold its own version of Penn State University’s annual Dance Marathon fundraiser on Friday.
Volunteer student dancers will dance and stand (without leaning or sitting down) from 5 to 9 p.m. in the senior high school gym. The event is called “Raiderthon” and it has raised nearly $100,000 over the past seven years.
The goal is for participants to raise money for the Miracle League of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Visitors are welcome to attend for a $5 fee, which will also go to the Miracle League.
This event will also include line dances, face painting, balloon artists, an escape room, volleyball, karaoke, raffle baskets, a 50/50, and refreshments. There is also an online GoFundMe account where people can contribute to this effort.
“Raiderthon” is modeled after PSU’s THON fundraiser, which is the largest student-run philanthropy in the country. Students stand for 46 hours straight to raise money to support those affected by childhood cancer.
